Podium has always been about empowering businesses to better connect with their customers, and now with Custom Fields, we’re taking that connection to a whole new level.
What are Custom Fields?
Custom Fields allow you to store specific, tailored information about your contacts directly within Podium. Whether it’s industry-specific details, departmental data, or unique identifiers specific to your business, Custom Fields give you the flexibility to capture and utilize the information that matters most to you.
How do Custom Fields work?
Setting up Custom Fields is quick and easy. Simply navigate to your Podium settings, head to the Contacts tab, and select Custom Fields. From there, you can choose from a range of pre-made fields tailored to various industries or departments. And if those don’t quite fit the bill, no worries—you can create up to 8 custom fields of your own.
Once your fields are set up, it’s time to start populating them with relaevant information for each of your contacts. This means you can personalize your interactions like never before, making every conversation feel tailored and meaningful.
Unlocking the Power of Custom Fields
But here’s where it gets really exciting. With Custom Fields in place, you can now leverage that data to supercharge your messaging efforts. Imagine being able to send targeted reminders, personalized offers, or specific updates—all without ever having to switch between systems or copy/paste information.
For example, let’s say you need to remind a customer about their upcoming appointment. With Custom Fields, you can simply enter a colon followed by the custom field name, and Podium will automatically pull in the relevant information for you. It’s quick, it’s seamless, and it’s incredibly powerful.

But perhaps best of all, Custom Fields save you time. No more hunting for crucial details or juggling multiple platforms. Everything you need is right there in Podium, making your workflow smoother and more efficient than ever before.
New Functionality: Templates and CSV Upload
But wait, there’s more! In addition to streamlining your messaging, Custom Fields now offer template integration functionality. This means that once you’ve crafted a message using a custom field, you can save it as a template for future use in the inbox. Whether it’s confirming appointments, following up on leads, or sending personalized offers, you can now do it all with just a few clicks.
And that’s not all! With Podium’s CSV upload feature, you can quickly and easily import your contacts along with their custom attributes. Simply navigate to the Contacts tab, select Upload, and follow the prompts to ensure your custom field data is appropriately formatted. Once uploaded, you can send targeted messages to specific groups of contacts based on their attributes—like confirming appointments for tomorrow, for example.
